August 27th, 2010 Varano, preview: declarations of Thomas Biagi, leader of the Italian and International Superstars classifications

After the summer break, the Italian Superstars Series gets back on track today at Varano de’ Melegari for the sixth round, seventh considered the International series.

Thomas Biagi arrives at Varano as classification leader with 116 points, one clear of Luigi Ferrara (Mercedes) and five ahead of Max Pigoli (Mercedes). The Italian driver for BMW Team Italy prepared with great care the weekend on the simulator of Grid GP, the “drivers’ lab” near Bologna, and kept himself on shape with long cycling training sessions. On Sunday, the fans from Cento’s fan club will not miss on the paddock and they will give Biagi the traditional support in a round that announces to be crucial for the title’s fight.

Thomas Biagi: “Varano is a favourable circuit for our BMWs, but whereby four-wheeled drive cars are at ease too; the start is gonna be the most critical part for us when the cars powered by higher capacity engines will enjoy up to 130 hp more than our and will be able to overtake easily. As compared to Mugello, my sportive ballast will be decreased from 60kg down to 20kg: the additional weight had an higher impact on Tuscanian up-downs than here, but being lighter won’t do any harm…”. The weekend’s programme follows (local time): Friday 27 August 14.00 – 14.30: Free practice 1 Saturday 28 August 10.20 – 10.50: Free practice 2 15.20 – 15.50: Qualifying Sunday 29 August 10.40: Race 1 15.40: Race 2 The two races will be broadcast live on Italian TV by Nuvolari (SKY 218 and freeview).
